SCOOTER
In Hemavan Tärnaby there are opportunities to use a snowmobile to get to fantastic places that are not as easily accessible on skis, but it can also be a nuisance. For many, it is a great feeling of freedom to use the snowmobile's power and resources in loose snow skiing, for others the highlight of the experience is driving long distances on well-prepared snowmobile trails. Many people are happy to take the snowmobile out to a fishing lake and pimp in peace and quiet, and for some the snowmobile is a work tool in, for example, reindeer husbandry.
We take each other into account, to maintain our unique nature & wilderness.
Good to know before driving:
Joint certificate
You who buy a trail certificate contribute to the maintenance of snowmobile trails and safer snowmobile driving in the mountains. The price includes the snowmobile map.
The map here on the web can be used for planning trips, but we recommend that everyone solves the trail certificate and the map to contribute to better snowmobiling.
Rules for driving a snowmobile in Hemavan's village
In Hemavan village, scooters are prohibited, but there is an exemption for certain snowmobile tracks within the prohibited area. Make sure you know where, when and how you can drive a snowmobile in Hemavan and together we will create sustainable scooter tourism. Snowmobile traffic is not popular in other built-up areas either. Speed limits in the snowmobile tracks, follow the posted signs
Current snowmobile bans
A ban on snowmobile traffic on state (Crown) land above the cultivation limit is introduced on May 5th (the May ban) out of consideration for reindeer husbandry. Regardless of this, the reindeer herding situation may result in temporary, local bans at other times.
Temporary warnings
The information is available on the Facebook page Skorteleder i Hemavan Tärnaby.
Snowmobile ban in alpine facilities and on cross-country tracks
It is forbidden to drive scooters in and near the alpine facilities, as well as in cross-country skiing areas. Check on the area's mountain map, with the police and on the scooter trail map that it is permitted to drive where you intended.
