About Added Value Hemavan Tärnaby
Thank you for being part of sustainable development!
What is Added Value?
- Mervärde is a financing model where the Mervärde companies collect and set aside money for the purpose Mervärde Hemavan Tärnaby.
- Mervärde reinvests in the countryside and creates opportunities to strengthen the attractiveness of the mountain destination.
- The main purpose of the financing model is to be able to invest and develop values that many benefit from but no individual actor is responsible for.
- Added value enables sustainable touristic development, which probably would not have happened otherwise.
- The added value measures should strengthen the hospitality industry and entrepreneurship in the long term.
- Examples of investments are upgrading and development of nearby trails, barbecue and rest areas, windbreaks and the like. For 2023, we want to make it easier to find nearby trails via a coordinated sign system with informative and experience-enhancing information. The visitor should more easily experience close to natural and cultural values. The focus is activities for the bare ground period.
- Examples of what we have done include rest areas on the Björkforsleden, at Fjällfinakåtan, at Kanahobbsvägen, at Vikmyra and implementation of the extension of the Tärnaleden.
- The added value can be a foundation and prerequisite for being able to seek external funding for larger projects, for example for more and/or extended and upgraded joints.
- The more money we raise, the more we can do.
- Added value contributes to reaching the global Agenda 2030 goals via 11 sub-goals and seven of the Swedish environmental goals. Added value must contribute to reducing emissions of greenhouse gases according to the Paris Agreement.
- Added value Hemavan Tärnaby is run by Hemavan Tärnaby Business Association. The association is a non-political economic association with the aim of strengthening business life in the mountain area; the western part of Storuman municipality.
Why should you contribute to Added Value?
Because then you clearly contribute to us being able to develop into a better destination that you want to visit again and again. You simply contribute to sustainable local development and secure our environment and viability for the future. It benefits everyone; visitors, residents, business, the municipality and nature.

Added value contributes to reaching the global goals!

Mervärde's basic purpose is to create the conditions for sustainable efforts and increase the attraction of the area. Added value becomes an important partner in strengthening efforts for natural and cultural heritage.

Mervärde's focus on summer and nearby routes creates more accessible experiences. Close routes mean that more experiences can be reached without extra transport. Close to "excursion destination" with rest areas and wind protection.

Promote positive economic, social and environmental linkages between urban, peri-urban and rural areas by strengthening national and regional development planning. Added value becomes part of the implementation of the regional development strategy.

Knowledge and information about biological diversity and ecosystems must guide the placement of new trails and activities. The efforts can attract guests' curiosity and increase knowledge about sustainable touristic consumption.

Added value presupposes good partnership and cooperation. Added value can be used as a private contribution to get more out of public money. A sustainable tourism industry needs capital to ensure the preservation of natural values, keep the destinations relevant and lead guests to experiences that last for several generations.
What environmental goals does the Value Added Work contribute to?
Sweden's environmental goals serve as benchmarks for environmental work in Sweden. The goals show the way towards sustainable development and constitute the environmental dimension of Agenda 2030. We can link above all the following seven environmental goals to the Value Added Work:
- Magnificent mountain environment
- Fresh air
- Limited climate impact
- Living lakes and streams
- Thronging wetlands
- Living forests
- A rich plant and animal life
With every proposal and decision on measures for the Added Value, consideration should be given to the Swedish environmental goals and to increased goal fulfillment of Agenda 2030 and the Paris Agreement. We must show that the details of each environmental goal are taken into account and that no measures are proposed that work against the goals.
Our measurable goals are set for the number of activities, measures, funds collected and participating companies.
The activities within Mervärde Hemavan Tärnaby must be coordinated with other work done in joint development and other sustainable experience-enhancing development.
